Appleseed and Roosters

                                           What's new?

Our local police came out and gave us a talk about safety. Evidently, it is not as safe around here as I had imagined. Young thugs have been walking onto the property, even entering our courtyard and community room.

There have been a couple peeping toms and a few doors knocked on. Gee, whiz. Why don't these thugs find themselves a job. A couple of them have been arrested so at least they know we are on to them!

And... how happy am I that I live on the third floor!

We celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day yesterday by eating a bunch of yummy apple dishes. Pie, turnovers, Waldorf salad, apple bread etc.

Thank you Johnny Appleseed for planting all those apple trees so many years ago. I am not a big apple eater but if you mix a bunch of butter and sugar with them... I can put that away, believe me.

We went to Cockeyed Rooster to eat lunch. I'd love to know where they came up with that name but the whole place is decorated with Roosters. Even the sign for the restrooms says Roostrooms. Isn't that cute?

The elevator on my end of the building is out of service so I am getting me some great exercise because of it. I am breathing kind of heavy by the time I reach the third floor! I could walk down to the other end of the building and catch that elevator ... I don't know if I am just stubborn or lazy. It's gotta be stubborn cause you're "Shore Ain't" lazy if you can climb a flight of stairs .

My bus tour trip to Dover Downs Casino has been postponed because of the coronavirus scare. I am not interested in exposing myself to that but I am sort of unhappy that I can't get away for a couple days.

What precautions are you taking? Any? A Lot?

You all stay safe, enjoy these spring-like days and just enjoy living.
That privilege is a gift, not a given.

  1. Your pic of all the apple goodies looks wonderful! And I think the name 'The Cockeyed Rooster' is cute.
As for the corona virus, we are being cautious; avoiding crowds, washing hands, etc. Don't have a mask, but don't think we're at that stage (?). Just trying to be sensible, I guess.
But I'm glad you're not going to the casino...

  2. Starting yesterday I am staying home most of the time, and am not in Bible study at church today, plus I canceled a lunch I organized for tomorrow. How unpleasant that strangers are entering your courtyard and community room. Be well.

  3. If that is a picture of your courtyard, it's really inviting. Do you ever sit out there in the summer? Yum! All those apple goodies. I love apple turnovers:)

  4. The Cockeyed Rooster sounds like a fun place to eat! I do eat apples, quartered, and then sliced again, and sprinkled with salt. And apples are good with peanut butter, too!
I am diabetic so I have to limit all those wonderful apple desserts
I am just taking normal precautions, using hand sanitizers on the grocery cart handles, etc.

  5. So sorry that you have thugs in the neighborhood but happy the police are on to them. Keep those doors locked.
I am shopping early in the mornings to miss crowds, fanatical on hand washing and even passed on a luncheon today but I wasn't the only one who passed. Think we are in for a bumpy ride.

  6. It's good that the local law enforcement gave a safety talk because folks should know about those unsavory characters. Taking precautions is always a good thing, especially now. A loft of local events have been cancelled here as well, including the library's annual book sale which was set for next weekend. We are being as careful as possible and not taking any trips, etc. until April-May and hopefully the situation will be better by then.
