Feeling Very Blest This Monday Morning

Since I was headed to the grocery store, I decided to get me a bite to eat at the Burger King first. You know what they say about never buying groceries on an empty stomach!😃

After getting my food at the drive-through I pulled into an empty parking spot. Half-way through my sandwich I noticed a cardinal pecking around in the grass. So, I tore a piece of bread off and toss it out my window.

What I witnessed next really gave me a start. The bird took a few hops, all the time turning it's head back and forth looking out for danger. It would take another few hops looking rather terrified. Finally it got to the bread, snatched it up and flew to a nearby tree.

I thought how blessed I am that I do not have that kind of fear in my life. It made me think of all those who do live in fear. Children who live with parents who mistreat them. Wives whose husbands beat them. Youngsters who have grown-ups who sexually abuse them. And, how about those poor people in Ukraine who are fearful of Russian bombs destroying their lives and being shot at from tanks.

There is so much fear in this world and that little red bird reminded me that it is a reality for so many people. I pray for them. May their fear be eased. May they live in peace. May we all have compassion.

  1. Amen... I pray for those in fear also. Fear is an awful thing. We all have some fears, mostly small, some imaginary. But some actually live in fear. I pray for them too.

  2. Beautiful thoughts expressed perfectly here today, my friend. I often think the same about children who live in fear. I wish all children would be safe, healthy, and happy. Hope you enjoyed your burger. P.S. They have the very best milkshakes there!!

  5. What a good post and good reminder for us all. I worry more than I should. And how pretty these birds are...just a little time to stop and watch the birds!

  7. The teeny tiny quail babies have just hatched. Watching mama and papa birds shepherding across the hays is am exercise in vigilance and love. Thanks for bringing this back to the personal.

  8. You just cannot imagine how many times I am thankful we don't live in a war-torn country. Where a bomb might fall at any moment. Where we can get what we want to eat most of the time.
