A Little Library Encourages Reading

I have always loved to read!

Since I am alone,  I find myself reading much more voraciously.

So naturally, I was excited to find out that our apartment complex had been gifted a 'little library'. It was painted by one of our residents and placed in our courtyard for easy access.

We have a small library room but it is on the 3rd floor, you need a code to open the door and it just isn't very inviting.. But, this is such fun and in the flow of traffic.

                                                                  Just look!

Sorry for the reflection in the glass door! But, people are using it, taking a book, replacing it with another one, so you always find something new to read.

This is the back of it. The scene is of the pond and fountain that I see everyday from my balcony.

This side has a scene of  the courtyard. People are sitting in the chairs there and represent actual residents. It's fun to point out who is who. FYI.... I didn't make the cut. Hehe

The first book I borrowed was Scottoline's "Eternal" which was very good.

When I finished it, I took the book "Coal River" and it was a good one, too.

As I was taking pictures today of the Little Library, I saw some new books on the shelves there. I am going to have to check those out

BUT

Not before I read "The Last Thing He Told Me" by Laura Dove.
I got it in the mail today. It's on Reese Witherspoon's Book Club list and was a gift from my daughter!
Can't wait to read it.

  1. You will enjoy The Last Thing He Told Me but guess what? The only thing I remember about the book is the title! I do remember that I liked it. Maybe I need to read it again.

  6. Latane,
I was so happily surprised to see your comment on Oatmeal and Whimsy! I had no idea you had this new blog, and I've missed your cheery presence since you faded away from blogging. I can't get into my blog LAWN TEA for the past year or so, but so much is happening and has happened, I've set that aside as very slight in the scheme of things. It's just so nice to see you again, looking exactly as your beautiful self, and the LIBRARY post is dear to my heart. So good to SEE you!! racheld

  7. I have visited our neighborhood 'little library' quite often to exchange books - and now I see another one installed outside the Middle School close by. Some were emptied and closed down at the start of COVID but seem to be operating again now!
Cute paint job - hope you find lots of good reads in the coming months!

  9. Until last year there was a nice little free library in the park where I walk almost every day. Then some idiots decided to torch it and nothing has been done either to remove the old mess or put in a new one. I miss it there.
