A Little Bit of This & That

I just loved the comments I received in my last post. Reading about all your 'memories' of how things used to be just made me feel like I could see you each and every one, in that situation. I enjoyed it so much and I want to thank you for being so gracious in answering. You are the best.

I went for my 3 month check-up with my surgeon last Monday. It's been a year since my lumpectomy and so they now are 'graduating' me to every 6 months to be checked. She said I was doing fine. Anytime I can get the 'fine' response to any test, I feel like celebrating.

I just couldn't help using that graphic above. I swear, if it doesn't stop raining we all are going to be looking for us an ark. Noah, you out there somewhere, come by and pick me up!

Our lunch bunch went to Amici's for lunch yesterday.
When I told my son about our plans, he said I should try the caprese bites. Well, you never go wrong if you follow your son's advice (at least not mine).

I tell you, they were so good. Not that you could say they were 'bites'. At least 5 or 6 bites in each one and I savored every single morsel.
A bit messy ... I did drop some of that balsamic dressing on my white pants. But, I'll get it out.

The Olympics start today.
Do you plan on watching?
I definately want to see the opening ceremony. I've been to Paris twice in my lifetime, been on the Seine River... can't wait to see how they do the opening on the river instead of in a building.

Here's a picture I took of one of the bateaus on the Seine River.

A word of wisdom for today:

"If you can't take it with you, then enjoy the heck outta it while you can."

A Bump In The Night

I've always had an interest in murder mysteries. Remember when you could  buy magazines titled "True Crime" or "Real Detective"?

I did my share of reading those. Back 'in the day' my husband was overseas and the kids and I were living in an apartment in my hometown waiting for Dad to return. After I got the kids to bed I picked up my detective magazine and read til I fell asleep.

It wasn't long until something startled me awake. Scared the bee-gee-bees outta me. It was nothing really but I didn't know that. So, I called my aunt, got her out of bed. She pulled on a coat over her pajamas and drove four miles to my house and crawled into bed with me. Talk about devotion!!

There's so many crime shows on tv now so it makes it easy for me to get pulled into them again. And, I went through a time that I read only murder mysteries. But, they're losing their appeal. guess I've overloaded my brain with that all scary information.

When I saw this graphic, I had to laugh. I didn't get that 'careful' but it sure rang a bell with me.

The Joy of Doing Nothing.

The weather has been incredible.... warm, sunny, just the right kind of weather for Michael to work on his boat. Next week it will be too cold... things don't set right, paint doesn't dry etc, etc, etc... when the temp gets below 70... And, it will.

So, I have been keeping myself entertained so that he could 'make hay while the sun shines', so to speak.

I read 'Ordinary Grace' which I thoroughly enjoyed. That last chapter was a big surprise. Love books like that.

I also started reading 'Finding Freedom' mainly because I am a huge fan of Erin French and her 'Lost Kitchen'.

I also ordered an e-book 'Etiquette' an updated version of Emily Posts books of long ago. Thought I might need to take a 'refresher course' in my manners.

I have also been busy making notes to work on when I get back to my computer at home and that cotton-picking book I am trying to finish writing. I swore I was gonna have it ready for publication by the end of the year but that 'ain't gonna happen.'

So, I am keeping busy just relaxing, doing nothing. A great respite from my hard work I do back in Suffolk (ha ha ha). I am getting pretty good at this doing nothing sort of thing.

Oh, and of course, I will be watching 'The Golden Bachelor' tonight. I was rooting for Nancy but they just didn't click and she headed home. The show keeps pushing Teresa but I don't like her. She's too mouthy. Maybe he'll end up with the pickle ball player. We'll just have to wait and see.

'Somebody Feed Phil'

Being older and then getting caught in this horrific pandemic has caused me to stay inside much more than I normally would. There for awhile I was preparing a book for republishing so I was pretty busy but with that finished I find my days get long and boring.

So, I am watching more television and reading more books.

I just have to tell you about this new show I am watching on Netflix. There have been 4 seasons already and I had no idea it existed but I watched an episode the other day and am just about binge-watching to catch up.

                                                              It's 'Somebody Feed Phil'.

Phil Rosenthal was the creator of 'Everybody Loves Raymond'. With it put on the shelf he wanted to do something different. He is not used to being in front of the camera, nor does he cook..... but..... his new show stars Phil traveling around the world eating all these amazing dishes in all these amazing cities. I want to be part of his crew!

He has a child-like wonder as he samples each dish. He's goofy, unpolished, fun and you can just imagine being right there with him. Some people can't stand his goofiness, and there can be some awkward jokes that fall flat but for one, I enjoy someone having fun and loving life.

So, I gotta run... I'm up to Season Two now and I don't want to miss a thing. You'll find me sitting in front of the screen, ice tea at hand and maybe a sandwich or some other something to nibble on and I am drooling over handmade tacos from Mexico City, learning how to eat crawfish in New Orleans or watching them dress up some hummus that looks so tempting in Tel Aviv.

                                                  See you later!

                              P. S. you'll have to let me know if you love Phil or hate him!!
