"Old Lives Matter"

It's been sneaking up on me, little by little and I finally recognized what it was.

I have gotten to the age that I need (no, I require) that things are uncomplicated so that I can handle them.

Seems that I can't multi-task or get myself out of pickles or figure out nine different ways to do something at one time.

                                                    It just ain't gonna happen!!

I guess that's alright. I am not in a hurry to go anywhere. I don't have meals to cook for a bunch of people, I drive only when I know the traffic is light, I take my time and keep it simple.

Of course, there are times I can't do that!

You know... like when you have to call a company and they give you a dozen steps to follow... push this number, now chose that one, please hold (and you hold for half an hour and they come back on and tell you to push more buttons)  and pretty soon you are so flustered you just want to scream. Least, that's me.

I don't like flying anymore. Sure it's easier than driving but they've complicated things, put in kiosks to check in... make you take your stuff off and put it in a basket. (Hey, guy, anybody gonna steal that why you folks are patting me down?), and the long lines, the crowded seating. How about making it more simple for us oldsters.

I don't know about you but I am convinced that this world is run by a bunch of teenagers (the kind that could work a laptop at age 2) and they have no clue that there is anyone out there older than 30.

                                                                                      I say,

                                          "OLD LIVES MATTER!"

  1. I do agree that I too used to love to fly... and maybe still do (although not ready to do it just yet). But you are right in that the airport itself has become an obstacle. Everything about it has become difficult: the long lines, the check-in procedure, the long walks to get to where you need to be, the announcements I cannot hear or make out what they're saying, etc. It's made flying not so great anymore (for me anyway). Once I'm on the plane, I'm fine... it's getting there that's difficult.

  2. I hear you. I've often thought new online systems are (over)designed by young people with big egos trying to prove how smart they are by making things as complicated as possible. I struggle to keep up.

  5. Me too, me too:) I sat on hold earlier this week (after pushing this number and that number) waiting with loud music in my ear ONLY to get dropped to start all over. UGH! I am about simplicity as I get older, I agree OLD LIVES MATTER! Enjoy your day dear friend, HUGS!

  6. The simple things make me happiest; things like a walk in the woods, fresh air and hearing the wind in the trees before a storm, good food and my new kittens.

  7. My husband who is only 47 would agree with you, he preferred to concentrate on one thing at a time & has been like this for many years, probably all his life. He often throws up his hands in despair at the unnecessary complications of modern life, especially online banking & passwords ( which never work) . If only we could pick up a phone for an amenity company and find a voice of a real person on the other end & not get lost pressing buttons! We find checking into airports complicated too. I think for Seniors, & people who gave their hands full with young families, there should be more greeters to help you check in. Feels like keeping things simple has gone out of the window.

  8. Absolutely! So tired of the tiny print of the food box directions, too!
