Grounding Makes Sense

I am really nervous about this post!!

I told you I would give more about my newfound energy and so here it is. But, you may laugh, you may think I am nuts or you'll just shake your head and walk away. I can only tell you it is working for me so I am a huge believer.

I have been grounding for 5 weeks now and I am just blown away by the changes in my life.

So, you are asking 'what's grounding'. We've been told all our lives we needed to be outdoors, breathe fresh air, get our feet dirty. Grounding is connecting our bodies to Mother Earth. It all has to do with the electrical charges that are in the earth and in our bodies and interacting. Most diseases are caused by inflamation in our bodies and grounding helps get rid of that inflamation plus other things.

I watched a video about grounding, had never heard of it in my life! But, I was bored, couldn't find anything to watch and when I started I could not stop. That day I walked outside, sat down on a bench by the pond, took my shoes off and planted my bare feet on the ground. Of course, I was immediately joined.... by the geese looking for food.

I discovered that you could buy grounding pads so I ordered one. I am not an outdoors person and knew summertime would chase me inside so pads seemed to be the answer.

I placed my new pad in front of my chair in the living room, plugged it into the grounding outlet on a nearby electrical plug and every time I watch tv I sit with my bare feet on that pad. You should get at least 30 minutes a day and it doesn't not matter how much you do. No harm done.

Within a couple days I began to feel different.

I have not changed one single thing about my life (my habits, my eating, my activities etc)

Here is what I have gained through grounding. I am still on the 'wait and see' path but like I say I have changed nothing else. So, it must be the pad.

1. SLEEP ... before I had trouble falling asleep and often would wake up and stay awake 2 or more hours during the night.
Now I go to sleep almost immediately and I sleep very soundly all night (except for bathroom visits)

2. MOOD.... Before, I suffer from some depression and have for several years taken a low dosage of Zoloft. Even then I would still  have bouts of sadness, lack of motivation.
Now.... I have been in the best mood for 5 weeks, not one down minute

 3. MOTIVATION... before I would awake and just dread getting out of bed, lie there until I just had to get up and then I'd wander aimlessly around
Now.. I hop out of bed, fresh and excited. I ask myself 'what can I get into today?'

4. DIZZINESS    ... before I had periods of dizziness, especially at bedtime. Had to sleep on two pillows, could not turn my head except very slowly or the room would spin, etc.
Now... I am on one pillow and I toss and turn like normal with no dizziness at all.

5. ACID REFLUX    ... Before, I have taken prescription meds for acid reflux for years. If I missed 1 dose by the next day I was hurting.
Now... I am on my 5th day without that medication and not one sign of heart burn. So far!!

6. ENERGY... before, by 2 or 3 in the afternoon I was spent... just over for the day. I'd collapse into a chair. Got nothing done after that time except the absolute necessary
Now.. I am still going strong all day... I might slow a bit mid afternoon but I perk back up and not be exhausted 'til bedtime.

Remember, I am 92 and I thought my lack of motivation,  energy level, sleeplessness etc. was all due to age.

I am very hopeful that I continue to feel this good, 10 years younger and ready to take on the world. I know people are skeptical about grounding. If you want, there are tons of videos on YouTube to watch. I would recommend any of them that featured Clint Ober or Dr. Laura Koniver.

Gee, I wonder how many of you are running for the hills right now. Ha ha.

    1. I ordered mine from Amazon (ZenOasis). A China product but there are more expensive ones that are made in the U. S. Mine cost $30 and that is the only money I've had to spend to get the result that I have gotten.

  2. Skeptical or not if it works for you then why not continue. $30 for better sleep and renewed motivation? I'd say it's well worth it.

  4. My son is a big enthusiast of grounding. I tried sitting with feet in the grass or the sand but didn't see any results ( only did it for 10 minutes). I am inspired by your experience and will try again. I already bought a grounding mat that I've never used.

    1. Judee, you can't get a miracle in 10 minutes (just joking) but truly you should use that mat ... everyday for at least 30 minutes. I think you'll be surprised in a short period of time.

  5. Hi Latane, I have read of how grounding sheets have helped some people with sleep and pain issues so I believe you when you write about how the grounding mat has helped you. Yay!

  7. I love the honesty in this post. I loved reading this because I could feel how excited you are about this new chapter. And honestly, I smiled when you said you wondered if people would think you were nuts. I think many of us have found something that made a difference in our own lives and hesitated to share it because we weren’t sure how others would react. The biggest thing that stood out to me was not just the grounding, but the joy you’re describing, waking up with energy, wanting to get up and do things, feeling like yourself again. At 92, that feeling of looking at the day and wondering what you can get into is wonderful.

I also loved the picture of you sitting by the pond and immediately having the geese come over. They knew you were onto something. Nature has a way of keeping us company.

I hope you keep enjoying this and that the good changes continue. I’m happy for you that you found something that has brought so much positivity into your days.

  8. Oh my goodness! I love this and will do more research. You KNOW I get out in nature often and it makes such a difference in my life. I'm so proud of you! Hugs, Diane

  9. I absolutely believe in this! My husband has been using a grounding sleep pad on his mattress for a couple of months and it has improved his sleeping dramatically. I do believe it has helped his motivation and interest in life. I know that sounds silly and strange but that is the ONLY change he has made.
I often walk outside in our backyard with the pups barefoot. I loved walking barefoot as a kid and started doing it again this last year after reading about grounding. I cut out one of my inflammation meds and haven't missed it.
I am so glad you wrote about this. I am going to copy this and send it to my 89 year old friend that has lost so much interest in things and is still as sharp as a tack mentally.
    Happy weekend! Diana

  10. I have never heard of grounding and you’ve got me really intrigued. I do think being out in nature is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. I feel totally at peace when I am among the trees. I will bookmark this post and thank you so much for sharing what it has done for you. I definitely took note and no, I am not running for the hills, big smile here. You have encouraged me to look into this. Thanks again! Have a great weekend Latane.

  11. Ok! I love this! My daughter's husband's father is a wonderful physician. He and his wife, a nurse practitioner, are huge supporters of this very thing. I spent some time with them in April and they explained it so well. (Just like you did.) And I am all about it! It makes so much sense. We used to run barefoot all the time! My kids think I am nuts to walk outside without shoes! I am so happy you are benefitting from it and sharing it here as well! Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

  12. I imagine mowing my own lawn would count as grounding. I do enjoy doing it despite the time commitment required each week. Sounds like you've connected to something all of should consider.
