I May Be Old, But I Am Not Senile

I'm a pretty easy-going person. Takes a lot to really rile me up but this is riling me!!

Last Wednesday I arrived at my dentist office for my semi-annual cleaning only to be turned away. "We don't have you scheduled for today, Mrs. Barton."

I may be old but I am not senile. I did not forget. I was sure of that but I left and stewed about it for days. Then I found my appointment card.

Guess I am not senile after all!! I am ready, set, go for Monday mornings visit back in that dentist office.

I could let this slide but this has happened to me twice now. I am so over showing up and have them turn me away. I swear I could hear a twinge of pity coming out of the receptionist mouth ... at my obvious forgetfulness the other day.
Hmmm.... we'll see which of us made the mistake.

  1. It helps to save those appointment reminders as evidence! You go, girl.

  4. You go girl !!! I've had that happen and it's so frustrating. We need to remember to carry our appointments cards with us. I really hope all goes well Monday and that they understand the mistake was theirs and not a senile older lady.

  10. I had that happen one time. Now they just send out electronic reminders. I’ve learned to compare those reminders with my calendar because sometimes they change the time without telling me.

  11. Life is difficult enough without ageism. I'd be so angry! Good luck.

  12. Oh, I would be HOT. Maybe they can credit you with a "cancellation fee"! Might be time to find a dentist office that has their act together. Women should refuse to be marginalized, especially older ones who are still very relevant!

  13. Go there and tell them how it is, you should also demand some free appointments/services to make up for the trouble they caused you.

  14. Latane, all of the previous comments are great suggestions, especially the one about how you should be paid for the inconvenience. Do share what happened next.

  15. They sound unorganized and sloppy. Will you find a new one? Glad you saved the card.

  16. Yes, You have to tell us what happens when you return and show her your original appointment card. I am thinking of changing my twice a year cleaning to once a year since the hygienist has me using a waterpik in addition to flossing.
