Nuts About My Computer

I painted yesterday. Never could get the background like I wanted it but I finally just quit. Sometimes that's the best thing to do... if it isn't working, just quit. But, I'll share my effort with you anyway.

I often find that people are amazed that I do as much as I do on the computer. I tell them it's like how I drive a car! I can drive that thing but just don't put me under the hood to fix something. That's what tech guy (son-in-law) is for!

It must have been 1989 when I got introduced to a computer. I was heavy into doing genealogy and decided I needed a way to keep it besides the tons of info I had on pieces of paper.

So, I walked into Radio Shack (remember those?) and told the guy I needed something. I'd never even seen a computer but he showed me once and convinced me it was what I needed. I walked out of there with it under my arm.

Got home and I managed to plug into the electrical outlet but now, what? So, a call to my son and he walked me through turning it on.....

And, the rest is history.

I wrote my first book that was published on it. I cussed it alot during that time, too. I got on Myspace and later on Facebook. Just lately I was talked into getting on Instagram but I'm not nuts about it. For a few years I had a YouTube channel but I've not kept that up. I do enjoy some of what's offered on YouTube.

And, I've been blogging since 2008. I do love my computer! And the friends I make on there.
But, as I said, don't ask me to fix any problems. It's just fun and I'm no technician.

How long have y'all been blogging?

  2. Latane, I like your painting as well and agree that sometimes it’s best just to quit. I’ve been blogging for over a dozen years and like yourself enjoy meeting people through the blogging community and happily have been able to meet a few face-to-face over the years, which has always been wonderful,

  5. My husband is a systems' analyst, and has worked with computers since before they were mainstream. The telephone company he worked for had one for billing, it took up an entire room. We marveled at it. When he wanted a desktop for our home, I had no idea what we would do with it...well, he installed games, then with the worldwide web, we could get onto Ebay, and do instant messaging...but no one could use the phone if the computer was in use, good old "dial up". I started blogging in 2007 when I was pregnant for number 16. :)

  6. Your painting is good. I don't think I'll ever know how people can paint lines on a flat piece of paper and make it look 3-D. Great job!
I believe we got our first computer in 1993. The printer paper had small circles on the sides, to help guide it through the printer. Technology has come a long way!
I started blogging in 2009. I work on a computer for most of the day at work, and like you, I can use it but can't always fix it. I'm so thankful for our tech team!

  8. I love that painting! I have a pitcher that you could have used as your inspiration! I didn’t begin blogging until around 2010, I think. I’ll have to check.
