It Feels Like Spring!

It's gorgeous weather! Oh my, how I wish it would last but unfortunately some cold fronts are moving in and we will lose this beautiful, warm sunshine! I am so ready for Spring. Years ago I wrote a poem about The wind and spring and such....

I sat out on my balcony... no sweater... and it's February, folks. I saw something I don't believe I had ever seen before... and y'all, these are so out of focus but the branches got in the way... but it was two hawks sitting on a limb together. I am used to just seeing one at a time. And, I am quite the hawk finder. I am first to spot them in trees, on electric lines or whatever when we are traveling.

Shirley came to get me this morning. It's Thursday so, do you know what is served at Cracker Barrel on Thursdays?  Yep, turkey and dressing. I just need a shot of that ever so often to soothe my southern soul! As good as that dressing is, it still does not measure up to my Mama's. Now, my Mama could make some wonderful cornbread dressing! I never developed the knack, sorry to say.

Hope you all are having a bit of this 'spring like' weather. If not, I hope it comes to you soon. Hugs to each of you!

  1. I'm so ready for Spring too! It's raining here today, but at least it's not snow! :)
    Turkey and stuffing sounds good.

  2. I too spot the hawks when we travel the interstates.
I'll get a vicarious thrill from you sitting on your balcony with no sweater. Snowy here today. At least it covered up the dirty snow and slush.

  3. I like your poem. Oh turkey and stuffing sounds good although mashed potatoes and gravy is also good. We don’t have Cracker Barrel restaurants around here. I think the closest one is about 300 miles!

Love the hawks! It’s been nice here - 80 degrees but rain this weekend.

  4. Is dressing the same as stuffing over here? I was thinking of some kind of vinaigrette or salad dressing!
We had a frost last night... still too cold for me outside! (Southern England)

  5. I am always seeing hawks, too. We have Red Tail hawks here and they are so pretty. I have never eaten at Cracker Barrel, so now I am planning that for next Thursday. I used to love eating lunches out with my Mom so I will do it in her honor. (:

  6. We've had a few days of sunshine and temps in the mid 60's. I cleaned off the back patio yesterday, then sat outside with a good book. It was wonderful! But tomorrow things change back to gray drizzle. I'm looking forward to spring. Those hawks are beautiful. It's amazing that you could spot them through all those branches! Good eye!

  8. It wont be too much longer and Spring will be here! Such a lovely poem you wrote! Lucky shot photo of the hawks sitting together.

  9. You got lucky seeing those hawks sitting there side by side. I did see a couple of Eagles in a tree this morning but they nest nearby so are often seen.

  11. Same happened here, briefly, warm weather and then a cold blast followed by rain today but thankfully not too cold. That Cracker Barrel meal sounds good even if it's not turkey holiday time.
