Yes, it's the first day of Fall. We always said Fall but I love saying Autumn. Sounds more lyrical, I guess.
However you say it just enjoy each golden day. Too soon the cold winds of Winter will be whistling down our chimneys. You know what I mean... I don't even have a chimney! haha
I made a lemon cake the other day. It's been years since I made a cake! And, this one was done in my toaster oven.
Lemon.... that sounds more summery but I saw the recipe and made it for Michael's birthday recently. It was good.
But, I am trying hard to get sugar outta my life. Lordy, that's hard. Not only sugar but fried foods and a bunch of other stuff that's not good for you.
Are you on a search for healthier eating?
Got any fav recipes you'd like to share?
On to a sadder subject
I had never really paid attention to the name Charlie Kirk until he was killed. Guess I live under a rock, cause there were a ton of people who knew and loved him.
However, his passing affected me deeply. I spent all yesterday afternoon watching his memorial on tv. And, I cried for Erica and those little kids.
I think the reason why it hurt so much was that Charlie was the same age as my Dad when he got killed (by lightening).
My Dad left a wife he loved beyond anything, a daughter age 8 and me (I was still in my Mother's womb)
I know what those little kids will go through... not having a Dad.
The older I get, the more I miss mine.
I just pray that all the violence against those who think differently than you will stop.
Oh my, your cake looks so pretty and delicious! In between my sweets, I try to eat healthy following Bobby Parrish and the Bobby App. You can scan any food bar codes and get the info. Yes sugar is the culprit for heart disease and many others things. Maple syrup and honey are the alternatives I try to use. Also organic foods to not have pesticides and no bad oils like corn and canola and olive oil from multi-sources,etc.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Charlie KIrk either but then I watched many of his YouTubes and I was so impressed. He's a saint I'm sure. andrea
p.s...at your age, you are doing great. I think basically it's all genetics. Eat whatever you want, you are amazing. andrea
DeleteI'm trying to eat healthier too, less processed foods. It's not easy.
ReplyDeleteWe did follow Charlie Kirk, and really appreciated him. The memorial was very good. I can see why it would really hit you, losing your Dad at that same age.
My goodness! You cake looks delicious. And I am sorry to hear about your Daddy. I also watched the service yesterday, and while I was familiar with Charlie, I had no idea of the extent of his platform and his gift of bringing young people into conversation. I believe he will make a much larger impact than ever before. I am just so sad that his family and loved ones will miss him so. Hugs, my friend.
ReplyDeleteYes, autumn does not stay long enough for me. It seems in only a few short weeks, it's gone and the cold wind starts to blow. That lemon cake is so pretty! Yes, the death of Charlie Kirk is such a terrible loss and a great sadness. I am so sorry to read of your own father's death. My prayers are joined with yours for the ending of violence.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy these autumn days!
Gosh, that cake looks scrumptious! Like you, until September 10 I wasn't that familiar with Charlie Kirk. Didn't they do a wonderful job with the Memorial? We watched from beginning to end -- tho' I did have more than a few qualms about Trump, Vance, Musk and all those elected officials together under one roof. Kudos to all the security!

DeleteI'm sorry you lost your dad before you got to meet him. I can only imagine the holes that may have left in your life.
ReplyDeleteI definitely understand the desire to remove sweets from your diet! During the day I eat very healthy and walk about 3 miles at day, just at my job. Then after dinner if I just sit in the front of the TV, I eat and eat! It's a hard habit to break. Praying you're able to find some healthy snacks and recipes that help you!
The lemon cake looks amazing! Makes me want to bake one too. I was so touched by the memorial service. Our country needed that and the outpouring of love and good faith. I shed many tears thinking about his sweet family. I'm so sorry you lost your dad and never got to meet him.
ReplyDeleteFirst, the cake looks amazing. Second, I posted a question on my blog that you might be able to help me with. Thanks!
