What a day!
I had an appointment with my oncologist today and got a glowing report. I just get 6 months check-up now. So, I am feeling on top of the world.
As I walked into the hospital where my doctor is located, I noticed an old lady sitting, waiting for her ride. "Doris," I shout. That is Doris, a previous resident from the Commons. She went several years ago to live with her daughter and I hadn't seen her since. To be perfectly blunt... I just figured she was no longer with us, if you know what I mean. Back then she was about 92. That woman loved to dance. And, she was a whiz at playing bingo. About once or twice a year she'd fly all by herself to Kentucky where she was from. And, that woman was a huge Kentucky basketball fan! Would even wear the team sweatshirts. I am so happy I ran into her. Just gave me a warm feeling deep inside my chest.
I called her an 'old woman'. Shame on me. When she lived here she was the age I am. She must be around 96 now.
I wonder what people say about me when they see me out and about. Do they call me an 'old woman'. Most likely. Depending on what age they are, I guess.
For lunch Shirley and I tried out a new restaurant. I'd seen it advertised on facebook, they said they had the best burgers! #22 in the nation, #1 in our area of Virginia. So, we tried them out. I'd say they were definately great. I'd eaten so healthy for several days so it was time for a treat.
I ate most of it!
How fun to run into Doris! She sounds like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteThe burger looks good.
That looks like a good burger. They seem to get bigger and fancier than they used to be. I could only eat half. I am glad Doris is still around and you got to see each other again.
ReplyDeleteThat burger (and onion ring?) looks right up my alley! My carnivore mouth is watering.
ReplyDeleteLarge but looking delicious.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice burger! And big burger! 🍔 nice potato fries too.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to meet and friend you have not seen for long.
Congrats on your checkup! You certainly deserved that luscious burger just for that reason. What a nice thing, to see an old friend. You look very much younger than 92. And your personality can light up a room also. andrea
ReplyDeleteOh that burger looks so good! Seeing Doris again sure was an unexpected surprise! What a blessing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day! That burger looks amazing and how great that you got to see your friend again. (:
ReplyDeleteSo glad your doctor appointment went good and how nice to run into an old friend! You deserved to treat yourself with that amazing looking burger!
ReplyDeleteGlad you ran into your friend! People look at me as an old lady nowadays...I don't care anymore. I'm just grateful to be waking up in the mornings! lol

it is so nice that you ran in to your "old" friend!! it's hard when you disconnect from a person you like and never get to see them again. i always felt it when my sons broke up with their girlfriends, and then poof, i would never see them again. you look great and are so happy and active, i don't think of you as old....ever!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news from your Dr, and how amazing and such a surprise to see someone you knew.. you must all be extremely healthy to reach such a great age.. I'd have had that meal too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day! And ro find an "old" friend!!!!
